Kenner wildlife control tip of the month:
What property modifications will keep down pigeon populations?
Pigeon populations that inhabit your property could potentially become a big problem for you and surrounding Kenner pest control residents. Pigeons mostly gather at their roosting sites during the day and seek shelter at night. Pigeons prefer to inhabit areas where they feel safe, such as in a sheltered area where they are not easily spotted. The most likely places for pigeons to roost around urban areas include your home, in trees, rafters, beams, abandoned structures and under bridges. As these areas could potentially become problem areas, they can easily be customized to discourage pigeon populations from expanding.
There are a few proven and very effective ways of dealing with pigeon populations when it comes to the modification of your home/property. The first method of curbing Kenner animal trapping pigeon populations on your property involves effectively blocking the access to internal roosting plus nesting sites. You can do this by using any of a variety of materials such as wood, metal, rust/proofed wire-mesh, or plastic and nylon netting. Simply fasten your sheet of metal, Styrofoam blocks, wood, stone or other material to the ledges to attain the wanted angle. In this way, roosting areas are modified to create a sloping surface, at a 60 degree incline or more. If you find yourself living in an apartment, you may opt to install the fine netting across upper tier to deter roosting.
Porcupine/wires can also be used to be fond of to any area where pigeons are roosting. These strategies consist of a solid base by sharp object sticking out from all angles, which prevents the birds from landing. How this works is, the needle/like strips of stainless/steel act as a shiver fence to keep out birds permanently without injury.
To further improve their effectiveness you must be sure to keep wires clear from any debris. A network of deep gauge monofilament column spaced at 6 inch intervals may be used to make a barrier that will obstruct with the bird’s normal flight outline to the roosting region.
Pigeons may furthermore be deterred from locations by hanging “scaring” devices or something similar to the “scare crow effect.” Any devices such as Kenner animal control strips of Mylar fabric, pinwheels, CD’s, large beach balls, noisemakers, aluminium pie plates and duplicate of Kenner animal trapping falcons and owls are shown to be effective. Ideally, you must consistently rotate items to keep the birds from being unafraid of them. There are also numerals of non/toxic sticky materials registered as tangible repellents for effective bird control hard work. Effects are immediate and birds tend to keep away from landing in the lead treated areas, however, the efficiency is usually misplaced over time. As a last resort, Pigeons can be live/trapped on construction areas and other locations, however it is urged that you consider some of the above mentioned property modifications instead.
